Day 4: Puerto Rico

10:40 A.M.
Today I have just arrived at the Port of San Juan from Miami, Florida. The only thing I really have to say is that I am very excited to be able to explore this island of paradise.Image result for port of san juan

The first area I want to go to is Old San Juan. This is the usual for tourists to go to, so I expected it to be chocked full of people already. If there is one thing I always love to find out about a certain location, it would have to be its history and since it has been over 500 years since Old San Juan has been settled, there is a lot to uncover.

Lets start off the expedition by going to the mansion of owned by one of the more famous explorers, Ponce De Leon. The manor seems to be modest, but with what they had for building and with the fact that this was built when the people were still trying to settle on the land, it would then seem to be a luxurious place

The next place I went to is San Felipe del Morro, which is an old fort built by the Spanish used to guard the port of San Juan. The fort is pretty large. With the fort being around 27 acres in size, I can see countries having some trouble trying to take it over.

Now it is time to go to the national rain forest, El Yunque. With a size of about 45 square miles, a guide is a necessity to show you what the best spots are. The forest has four different vegetation areas. Tabonuco Forest, Palo Colorado Forest, Sierra Palm Forest, and Dwarf Forest. We went to go see the La Coca Falls. We later were able to swim in the river leading away just as a quick refresher.

5:38 P.M.
After leaving the park, I thought that it would be necessary to try to go evening sailing to end off the day. Watching the sun set over the sea horizon is just beautiful and this is the perfect way to end my day in Puerto Rico.
